CHRISTMAS CARD DESIGN

2017 Christmas Card Design Competition - Winners

With 400 entries to this year's competition and so many great entries from all six participating schools, selecting the winners proved to be a difficult task!

We're delighted to announce that St Mary's P6 Pupil Ciaran Lumley has been selected as both the winner in the Age 10-12 Category and the Overall Winner of the competition. Ciaran designed two great cards, both with a hurling theme which we felt was very appropriate for the Foundation. The winning design shows off Ciaran's great talent for drawing and his ability to come up with a great idea that appealed to all the judges. Ciaran's other card, a Christmas tree constructed with hurling sticks was almost as good as his winning entry so we want to say very well done to Ciaran and thanks for putting so much thought into both of your designs.

Congratulations to St. Mary's, Killesher who win the overall school prize of a £200 voucher thanks to Ciaran's winning design!

Very well done to our other winners in the Age 7-9 and Under 6 categories. We had so many great designs in these categories that we decided to have two winners in each. Congratulations to Cathaoir Patrick Casey, Ellie Martin, Eibhlin Kearney and Ethan Brown, all of your designs could be used as Christmas cards so you're all very talented and worthy winners!

All the winners will receive a Foundation goody bag containing Art & Craft materials as well as some hurling related items. Ciaran will also receive a new Scullion Hurl as overall winner.

We were delighted to have some great entries from the pre-school age children at Loughgiel Play Group and were so impressed with the great display of cards (picture below) we have decided to offer a special additional prize of £100 to the Playgroup to help with the cost of their Christmas party. Thanks to all the teachers and pupils for taking part.

We'll be presenting certificates to some of our runners-up and publishing photographs of the entries on the run up to Christmas so keep an eye on the website for updates.

Thanks to everyone for taking part in this year's competition, we look forward to getting the cards printed up, we'll be in touch with the winners to arrange the presentation of the prizes soon.
