Regrettably we have to announce that due to unforeseen and exceptional circumstances Cathal Barrett will not be attending the Foundation Fun Day on Saturday as previously announced. Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to meeting Cathal but due to circumstances beyond our control we are unable to proceed with his visit as planned.
On the plus side we are proceeding with the Blitz and Fun Day and are fortunate to have plenty of All-Ireland winning stars in the Parish who are available to attend tomorrow! Eddie McCloskey will be presenting the Shield to the winning Hurling Team and our second special guest Geraldine McGarrigle, All-Ireland winning Wheelchair Hurler will present the Shield and medals to the winning camogie Team. In addition to this, some of our other Senior players will be in attendance and will officiate at the Crossbar Challenge and Speed Net competition in Fr Barrett Park.
The Foundation is obviously disappointed that Cathal Barrett has been unable to fulfil his committment to attend but we are already planning another special day where all our young hurlers will be invited to meet with some high profile players, we will make a further announcement regarding this at tomorrow's fun day event and confrim the date within the next two weeks. All Teams participating at tomorrows Blitz will recieve a special invite to attend this additional event and we are confident that any disappointment about the tomorrow's cancelled visit will be quickly forgotten.
Good luck to all our young hurling and camogie teams taking part in tomorrows Blitz. The Shane Mulholland Foundation is all about supporting and encouraging the young players who will be the stars of our clubs in the future, please come out and support them and give them a day to remember. Don't forget that there is free entry to the Fun Day for all who are at the pitches to support the under 12's, the tournament starts at 9.45 and with additional teams taking part the finals are now scheduled for 12.45pm. The Funday will open with the presentations and run to 5pm.
See you all tomorrow!
